Monroe council approves appointments, licenses, contracts and equipment purchases in unanimous votes

Appointments and licenses: Council confirmed 2026 special committee appointments named from the bid board and appointed Ronald Babler to a five‑year term on the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. The license committee’s resolution granting a Class B beer and Class C fermented malt beverage and wine license to Sooner Enterprises Wisconsin Ltd (Beyond Crafty Craft Beverages and Art Lounge) for a 1,000‑square‑foot premises at 1611th Street was approved by roll call.
Contracts and capital purchases: On the Board of Public Works’ recommendation council awarded the 2026–2027 forestry contract to Whitney Tree Service and approved a multi-year broken-main project contract for 2025–2027. The finance and taxation committee’s recommendation to purchase Innotex PPE for the fire department from Jefferson Fire & Safety for $88,301.91 was approved; the department chief explained the gear will replace worn-out sets "they wear on a daily basis." Council also approved purchase of four 2026 Ford police interceptor utility vehicles (AWD) at a total cost of $177,844; members noted this represents four of 14 fleet vehicles.
Elections and administration: The council approved a resolution appointing election inspectors for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2027, after correcting a date in the draft resolution. The city administrator and clerk gave routine year-end reminders and noted no committee meetings planned for Dec. 22 or Dec. 29.
All the above measures carried on voice or roll-call votes with no recorded opposition in the meeting record.
