Commission asks staff to review property-maintenance rules after complaints about vacant and flipped homes

"He knows these by heart," a commissioner said of the code-enforcement officer, who outlined common violations and enforcement timeframes. Several commissioners urged staff to investigate neighboring ordinances (for example, Lake Forest) and return with recommended language that could modestly tighten local standards while recognizing limits on regulating residents'taste.
The commission asked staff to prepare a report and bring proposed revisions or options back at the August meeting for further consideration.
