Amy Jones elected Loma Linda mayor; council selects Spencer as mayor pro tem

Amy Jones was sworn in and elected mayor of the City of Loma Linda on July 14, 2026, after the council voted 4–1 in her favor in a verbal roll-call election.
Lynette Arrioles, the city clerk, administered the oath of office for Amy Jones and Philip (Phil) Duper and presented certificates of election. After nominations, the clerk recorded a 4–1 tally for Jones over Duper to fill the mayor’s seat; the clerk then opened nominations for mayor pro tem and the council voted 5–0 to name Council member Spencer as mayor pro tem.
Jones, who had just taken her oath, thanked supporters and described the campaign’s high turnout. "I'm really excited to have the opportunity to serve the Loma Linda community," she said, noting volunteers and campaign staff who helped her win election.
The council also recognized outgoing council member Deron Daley. Daley delivered retirement remarks reflecting on 16 years of service and thanked city staff and constituents: "Words cannot express how much I appreciate the great honor of serving my community," he said. The council presented a plaque and a certificate of appreciation.
Next steps: the clerk updated seating and software to reflect the officer changes and the council proceeded with the rest of the evening’s agenda.
