Forsyth school board approves hires and rehires for 2026–27 school year

The Forsyth Public Schools Board of Trustees approved several personnel items Monday night, including the hiring of an FFA adviser, a stipend‑based technology assistant and the rehiring of multiple coaches for the 2026–27 school year.

Administrator (Speaker 2) recommended hiring Emily DeBoro as the FFA adviser, saying she expressed interest in the role during her interview and that previous arrangements with the outgoing adviser had been resolved. A trustee (Board member, Speaker 5) moved to hire DeBoro and to send a letter of appreciation to the past adviser; the board approved the motion by voice vote.

Administration also proposed offering a technology assistant role as a $10,000 stipend to reflect the hours worked outside the regular contractual day. The recommended hire was Amy Jones. Trustees asked how instructional coverage would be maintained and whether the stipend formula follows past practice; administration said the stipend mirrors prior compensation and will not increase automatically year‑to‑year. The board voted to approve the hire.

On athletics staffing, administration presented an extensive list of recommended rehires for high‑school and junior‑high winter and spring sports, including head and assistant coaches across basketball, wrestling, cheer, speech and track. Trustees debated whether such approvals should be taken sport‑by‑sport to allow individual discussion when concerns arise, but voted to approve the full slate after assurances that evaluators recused themselves where conflicts existed and that co‑evaluations were completed when necessary.

Several trustees emphasized trust in administration while reserving the right to question individual hires in the future. The board recorded the motions and completed the votes during the regular meeting; no individual roll‑call tallies were read into the record, and all motions were approved by voice vote.
