Library, parks and recreation report growth in programs as Eldridge Park renovation advances

Tom DeCervo, director of Recreation, Culture and Community Affairs (speaking remotely), and Tabby from Snow Library gave updates on community programs and facilities.
DeCervo said program participation rose from about 2,230 in 2024 to 2,953 in 2025 and that bids have opened for a $3.6 million renovation of Eldridge Park with anticipated ground‑breaking in September. "We are now accepting bids," he said, and added that the department expects to offer 90–95 programs in 2026 with a projected 3,500 registrations.
Tabby, speaking for Snow Library, said the library serves ~97,000 visitors annually and is expanding its “library of things” and seed library; the library has added new adult and youth programs and is working toward better digital outreach and an electronic vestibule bulletin board.
Board members and residents asked about program timing (Eldridge Park construction and expected availability of courts next spring) and library holdings. DeCervo said the Eldridge Park schedule is realistic and that the project team hopes to have courts open by next spring.
No votes were taken on capital spending at the meeting; staff said procurement is underway and bids have opened on the town website.
