Middlebury Board approves minutes, tax rebates and schedules follow-up executive-session review

At its July 6 meeting the Middlebury Board of Selectmen approved meeting minutes, enacted several procedural actions and approved a set of tax rebates.
First Selectwoman Jennifer A. Mahr moved — and the board unanimously approved — a change in the agenda to hear public comment before regular discussion. The board also approved the meeting minutes (as moved by Mahr and seconded by Selectman Brian Shaban).
The board approved the following tax rebates (motion made by First Selectwoman Mahr; Selectman J. Paul Vance seconded the tax-rebate motion and it passed unanimously): Ari Fleet LT LTD — $678.74; Nissan Infiniti LT LLC — $292.24; Thomas W. MacDougall — $70.57; Diane M. MacDougall & Thomas MacDougall — $48.98.
At 5:42 p.m. First Selectwoman Mahr moved to go into executive session for a legal update on the matter Alton Cronin and Randy Ireland v. Town of Middlebury, Edward B. St. John, and Robert Smith; Town Attorney Barbara M. Schellenberg, Board of Finance Chairman Vincent Cipriano and select board members attended the executive session. The board exited executive session at 5:54 p.m. and adjourned the regular meeting at 5:55 p.m. The next Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Conference Room.
