Gordon-Rushville board approves 2026–27 calendar, accepts consent agenda and declares surplus items

Gordon—The Gordon-Rushville Schools Board of Education voted unanimously March 9 to approve routine district business, including the consent agenda listing $847,855.71 in general-fund bills and approval of the 2026–27 district calendar with a pair of date adjustments.
The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Ward Wacker, seconded by Bobbi Archibald. The consent package included minutes of the Feb. 9, 2026 regular meeting; general fund bills of $847,855.71; lunch fund bills of $48,974.74; a transfer of $365,300 from the investment fund to the general fund; a $5,200 transfer from the building fund to the investment fund; and a $4,600 transfer from the depreciation fund to the investment fund. The board also accepted the resignation of Joel Burbach and approved a contract for Tamara Bila. Vote: 6 yes, 0 no.
On a separate action item the board approved the 2026–27 district calendar. Nick Sasse, committee member, moved to approve the calendar as presented and Ward Wacker, committee member, seconded; the board approved the calendar with a change making Nov. 13 a school day and Nov. 6 a no-school day. Vote: 6 yes, 0 no.
The board also declared several items surplus and authorized their sale: a partial pallet of edge pavers/bricks in varying condition, 19 plastic parking blocks and 20 manual microscopes. The motion was made by Seth Tausan and seconded by Bobbi Archibald. Vote: 6 yes, 0 no.
Earlier in the meeting the board voted to declare the session properly publicized under district policy 2008, citing the Sheridan County Journal Star as the method of publication (motion by Ryan Alcorn; second by Seth Tausan), and accepted the posted agenda (motion by Ward Wacker; second by Nick Sasse). Both procedural motions carried 6-0.
No contested motions or split votes were recorded. The board adjourned at 7:41 p.m.; the next regular board meeting is scheduled for April 13, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., with the American Civics Committee meeting at 5:00 p.m. prior to the regular session.
