Ogallala board approves consent agenda, raises tax-growth cap and adopts Option Enrollment

The Ogallala School Board unanimously approved the consent agenda on a motion by Amanda Christensen, seconded by Tim Ryan. The consent items included approval of the July 21, 2025 minutes and the following totals: General Fund claims $344,709.92; Payroll $925,749.59; Depreciation Fund $7,688.00; Hot Lunch Fund $8,231.10.
On an action item, Tim Ryan moved and Mary Wilson seconded a resolution to increase the district's base growth percentage used to determine its property-tax request authority by up to 6 percent; the board voted aye: Amanda Christensen, Tim Ryan, Tania Perlinger, Jim Korth, Mary Wilson and Doug Davis. The board also adopted a resolution for Option Enrollment on a motion by Tania Perlinger, seconded by Jim Korth; that motion passed with the same unanimous tally.
Administrators reported a range of operational updates: summer upgrades and renovations, senior parking-stall painting (designs subject to administrative approval), new LED scoreboards at PV with sponsors pledging multi-year donations, and an in-house training completion that enables staff to provide some SLP and psychology services. The board noted a successful staff picnic sponsored by the board.
Procedural next steps announced included a Budget Workshop scheduled for noon on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 and the next regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. The meeting adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
