Sedona City Council on July 14 approved the grants review committee's recommendations for FY27, awarding $350,000 to the small grants program and $200,000 to the arts-and-culture organizations program.
Christie Turk, co‑liaison for the programs, corrected two items in the council packet — noting the city received 32 (not 33) small‑grant applications and clarifying a $180 reallocation between social services and discretionary categories. She said the committee followed the council's adopted forty‑forty‑twenty distribution framework (40% arts, 40% social services, 20% discretionary) in developing recommendations.
James Carpenter, vice chair of the grants committee, recognized volunteer committee members and said the committee reviewed each application against program guidelines. Councilors praised the committee's work and thanked longtime committee chair Stephanie for years of service.
Councilor Kathy (first name in record) moved to approve the small grants recommendations for a total of $350,000, and later moved to approve the arts and culture grants for $200,000. Both motions were seconded and carried without recorded roll‑call tallies in the meeting transcript.
Action and next steps: Council approved the two funding motions. Staff will proceed with award notifications and disbursements in accordance with the committee's exhibit listings and the council's funding framework.
