Board hears progress on new natatorium, pool infill and paving options; substantial completions expected soon

Gilman (S3) updated the board on construction work at multiple sites, saying the natatorium pool passed testing ahead of tile installation and that crews are preparing to fill the pool and finish final punch-list items. "We're getting very close," he said, and identified August 18—first student day—as an operational milestone the district is targeting for the new facility.
For the Lowell High School pool infill Gilman said heavy demolition (block walls, ductwork removal) is progressing and that teams are moving toward mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins followed by finish work and inspections. He reported only "unforeseen conditions with utilities overhead" so far and said inspectors have cooperated.
Gilman also presented paving options and preliminary costs for Oak Hill and several high-school quadrants. He described three approaches—milling and resurfacing, milling with selective full-depth replacement, or full-depth replacement to subbase—and gave ballpark figures for restriping (~$6,000), a mill and resurface corridor (~$29,000) and a larger mill/resurface area (~$83,000). He committed to returning with formal proposals and cost breakdowns at the next meeting.
Board members and staff discussed traffic patterns, parent drop-off and bus routing during construction and during school days; the district will evaluate weekend or fall-break paving windows to minimize disruption. No formal motion was required; these items were presented for information and described as pre-action planning.
