Ridgway adopts regional housing needs assessment to comply with SB 24-174
Summary

Senior Planner Angela Kemp told the council that the town, in partnership with Ouray County, applied for grant funding from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs and hired Points Consulting to prepare a Regional Housing Needs Assessment intended to meet compliance with Senate Bill 24-174. After public meetings and a survey, the report—"filled with graphs and data"—was presented as a decision-making tool.
Councilmember Montague moved to approve Resolution No. 2025-14 adopting the regional housing needs assessment; Councilor Grambley seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. Council members noted the assessment will guide policy and action planning for housing needs in the region.
What’s next: The assessment will be used to inform housing policy, and staff and the council will consider its recommendations in upcoming planning work.
