Residents press Artspace Ridgway managers over vacancies, certifications and building maintenance

Representatives of Artspace and Asset Living updated the Ridgway Town Council on operations at the Artspace Ridgway "Space to Create" building, acknowledging prior problems with the former management company and outlining steps the new management will take.
Andrew Michaelson (Artspace) introduced Asset Living staff and said he would investigate insulating pipes in the Decker Community Room leased to the town. Josh Morss, regional vice president for Asset Living, said three deed-restricted housing units are currently vacant.
During audience remarks, resident Alex Van Hart asked whether repeated income recertification during the year could be changed; staff said the requirement is annual certification though a change of household triggers a new certification. Resident Kristen McCabe said "complaints were made for years" about illegal activities under prior management and noted that a request for professional cleaning of stairwell carpets still has not been performed. Council members discussed these concerns and asked staff to follow up with the property manager.
