Ridgway council adopts 2026 budget, tax levy and municipal plans in unanimous vote

The Ridgway Town Council on Dec. 10 unanimously adopted the town’s 2026 fiscal year budget and the related property tax levies, approving three resolutions that set the budget and sums to funds for the coming year.
Councilmember Schuyler moved to adopt Resolution No. 25-11 (the 2026 budget), seconded by Councilmember Scoville; the measure carried with all members present voting yes (Councilors Grambley, Montague, Schuyler, Scoville, Mayor Pro Tem Lakin and Mayor Clark). The council subsequently approved Resolution No. 25-12 (appropriations to funds) and Resolution No. 25-13 (property tax levy certification) by similar unanimous votes.
In related business the council unanimously adopted the town’s 2026 Five- and Ten-Year Capital Improvement Plans and the 2026 Strategic Plan (the latter amended in meeting to add revisions to grey water regulations and items requested by the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership). The council also adopted Ordinance No. 05-2025 amending council compensation (applying to future officeholders) and approved an agreement for legal services with Bo James Nerlin, P.C.; both measures passed on unanimous votes.
On licensing the council approved a restaurant liquor license for Maven Local Eatery at 540 Clinton Street after a staff presentation and an appearance by applicant Adrian Alvarado, who told the council the farm-to-table restaurant has received a warm response from residents.
What’s next: the adopted budget and levy resolutions will be certified as required and the town will begin implementation of projects listed in the capital plan; the strategic plan will guide staff priorities in 2026.
