Converse County approves Public Health office move, community health assessment and prevention funds

Darcey Cowardin, Public Health Nurse Manager, told commissioners Public Health must move from the Glenrock Hospital District Clinic to the Oregon Trail Clinic facility by Aug. 1, 2026. The board approved a Lease and Service Agreement with Memorial Hospital of Converse County (MHCC) for office space at 525 E. Birch Street for $700 per month for one year.
The board also approved a Community Health Needs Assessment agreement with Professional Research Consultants for $21,500; Converse County will pay 50% of the cost for a one‑year engagement. Cowardin described that Public Health is partnering with MHCC on the assessment.
Separately, the board approved a Grant Agreement with the Wyoming Department of Public Health for $262,230 in Prevention funds through June 30, 2028. MHCC behavioral health staff (Dr. Kristie Sellers and Alex Napier) outlined planned uses including OneWyo opioid settlement funds, Responsible Gambling funds, naloxone availability for the public and participation in a Bridges to Recovery pilot program.
Commissioners asked questions about program partnerships and implementation timelines; staff were directed to execute agreements and return with reporting as required by grant terms.
