During public comment resident Benjamin Cruz raised concerns about building permits issued for remodeling six apartment units at 8152 McKinley Ave. Cruz said the permits were issued under owner‑occupant exceptions to allow an LLC to proceed and asserted the city did not verify required workers’ compensation insurance or related certificates.
"My petition is to recall the permits on the on all the applicable, and corresponding financial penalties, including perjury," Cruz said, adding that the administrative process failures have displaced two households and put additional residents at risk of homelessness. He asked city officials to act promptly and offered to provide further documentation.
City staff said they would have planning staff (John King) contact Cruz to follow up and provide assistance.
