Weatherford council approves $503,986 contract for parks administration renovation

The Weatherford City Council voted July 13 to authorize the city manager to execute a construction contract with DRI Construction for the parks administration and facilities renovation project, moving the next phase forward with a staff-recommended contract amount of $503,986.
Jacob Kirkpatrick, director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events and Facilities Maintenance, told the council the phase scheduled for approval includes roofing, framing, plumbing work, new windows, sewer connections and other elements necessary to "dry in" the expansion. He said, "If approved tonight, the next stage of phase of construction will begin August 1, then I'll be back on August 25 with the final phase approval," and that the project remains on a January completion schedule.
Staff recommended the contract to maximize the use of downtime and to keep the overall project on schedule; council moved for approval and the item passed on the council's electronic voting system. The item was identified on the agenda as Contract No. 23010402 and staff said the total aggregate fiscal year expenditure for the broader project is $1,724,803.
The council did not expand on funding sources during the meeting; staff indicated the schedule of future agenda items will include the final phase approval and further updates.
