Marlborough sets 2025 tax rate at $31.24; selectmen approve registers, accept cemetery and monument donations

At their Nov. 12, 2025 meeting the Marlborough selectmen recorded a municipal property tax rate of $31.24 per $1,000 of assessed value for 2025, an increase of $2.51 from 2024.
The minutes show the following component breakdown: municipal $6.53 (no change), county $3.35 (up $0.45), local education $19.89 (up $2.08) and state education $1.47 (down $0.02).
Selectman Nelson moved to approve the Nov. 13 Direct Deposit Register for $12,462.60 and the Accounts Payable Register for $32,367.61; Selectman Pitt seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Nelson also moved to approve the Nov. 4, 2025 meeting minutes; Chairman Paight seconded. That vote was recorded as 2-0-1, with Selectman Pitt not in attendance for that vote.
The board reviewed and signed documents including cemetery deeds for Malone and Parshall, a Water System Asset Management Plan update contract, and an Umbral contract renewal.
Selectman Pitt moved to accept donations as unanticipated revenue under NH RSA 31:95(b): $1,500 from Jane Pitt for the Meetinghouse Cemetery gate project; Revolutionary War Monument donations of $500 from the Marlborough Historical Society, $200 from Lawrence and Joann Robinson, $75 from Sharon and Scott Wilson, and $100 from Jean Benson Angeloro. Selectman Nelson seconded; the vote to accept was unanimous.
The minutes note the board reviewed an article about Complete Streets grants for the Marlborough Bulletin and agreed to mail a postcard to property owners on Frost Hill Road and Meetinghouse Road notifying them of a public hearing on Dec. 2, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the library concerning Eversource’s request to cut and trim trees on Frost Hill Road, a designated scenic road. Selectman Nelson moved to adjourn at noon; Selectman Pitt seconded and the vote to adjourn was unanimous.
