Selectman Pitt moved to accept the donations as unanticipated revenue under New Hampshire RSA 31:95(b); Selectman Nelson seconded and the vote to accept was unanimous. The donations recorded in the minutes were: Marlborough Lions Club, $1,250; Homestead Thrift Shop, $500; Marlborough American Legion, $500; and Nancy and David Wyman, $50.
The board said the change to the Heritage Commission’s membership is intended to address current staffing and quorum difficulties. The minutes note that Warrant Article 9 of the 1995 Town Meeting established a seven-member Heritage Commission and that New Hampshire RSA 673:4-a allows Town Meeting to set the number of members between three and seven. The Board indicated it would place a warrant article on the 2026 Town Meeting warrant to reduce the commission’s membership to three.
Board members also discussed whether the Heritage Commission might redirect funds from its operating budget—specifically the Corner Stone line item—to contribute to the Revolutionary War Monument. No formal vote on redirecting those funds is recorded in the minutes.
Town Administrator Ellen Smith provided an unrelated facilities update at the meeting, saying bases for beacon systems at the Route 101 x Water Street and Route 124 x Pleasant Street intersections will be installed this week and the signal equipment will be installed next week. The board said there will be no meeting the following week.
