The Marlborough Board of Selectmen approved a winter maintenance agreement with Bill’s Concrete & Construction, LLC for the 2025–26 season after the town’s search for a part-time DPW employee failed to produce suitable applicants.
Under the contract, the town would pay $90 per hour for five hours per week as a retainer; those first five hours each week are covered by the retainer and any plowing beyond that would be billed at the agreed hourly rate. Selectman Pitt moved to enter into the contract; Chairman Paight seconded and the vote to approve was unanimous.
Town staff had solicited coverage for a narrow section at the end of West Hill Road because the town plow’s turnaround is before the end of the road; the town previously paid a private contractor (Frazier’s) to handle that section. Matt Patnode offered to return to plow if necessary; Chairman Paight will contact new property owners to confirm arrangements.
The board also agreed to provide paid time off to all RTC staff under the new RTC operation structure and TA Smith will forward a draft RTC ordinance to counsel for review.
