Henry County Commission unanimously adopts county recovery plan presented by emergency management

The Henry County Commission adopted a written Henry County recovery plan during its July 7 meeting in Clinton after a presentation from Emergency Management Director Mark Harton, Emergency Management Assistant Director Jim Sedlet and Ashley Swartz of the Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission.
The plan, described by presenters and staff as a "living, breathing document" that can be updated as needs change, lays out county procedures for coordinating response and recovery after disasters. "They could start at page 1 and get done what needs done," a county representative said during the presentation, and Ashley Swartz said the plan was developed jointly with Kaysinger Basin staff.
Commissioner Jake Bradley moved to approve the recovery plan; Commissioner Mark Larson seconded. The commission adopted the plan by roll call, recorded as Larson — yes; Bradley — yes; Stone — yes.
Mark Harden also presented an after-action report on a storm that occurred during the July 4 Old Glory Days celebration, prompting commissioners to discuss strengthening emergency recovery plans for that event in future years.
The commission’s formal adoption directs Emergency Management and partnering agencies to use the plan in future responses and to update it as conditions or best practices change. Commissioners did not schedule a separate vote on implementation funding during the July 7 meeting.
The commission adjourned later in the morning after additional agenda items and public comments.
