Elizabeth Freeman Center reports 155 housing‑advocacy cases since July; half from Pittsfield

Divya Chaturvedi, Executive Director of the Elizabeth Freeman Center, briefed the Human Services Advisory Council on the shelter’s services and recent caseload.
Chaturvedi said the Elizabeth Freeman Center is the only domestic‑violence and sexual‑assault shelter in Berkshire County and is celebrating 50 years of service. "We provide counseling, a 24/7 hotline, housing advocacy, court advocates, civilian police advocates, and more programs," she said, and reported that since July the center provided housing advocacy for 155 survivors, 82 of whom were from Pittsfield.
She described prevention programming that targets middle and high school students and answered a question from Chair Rosalind Kopfstein about how those programs operate in local schools.
