Board confirms treasurer appointments, voids stale checks and fills building-corp seat

At the July 14 meeting Marion Community Schools' board handled several administrative items after staff notified the board of a CFO resignation.
Superintendent Dirk Lockwood said, "With the resignation of our CFO, we need to reappoint a new treasurer and deputy treasurer for Marion Community Schools," and recommended Diana Spencer as treasurer and Angie Beyer as deputy treasurer. The board moved, seconded and approved both appointments by roll call.
The board also approved a resolution authorizing Treasurer Diana Spencer to void outstanding checks that are two years old. A board member observed that several checks dated to 2021 remained outstanding; staff confirmed the district will perform the voiding annually going forward.
On the building corporation item, board staff recommended accepting the resignation of Eric Waltz (the board recorded that Waltz no longer lives in the district) and appointing Andrew Morell as his replacement. The board approved accepting the resignation and appointing Morell by separate roll-call votes.
What this means: The approved appointments restore authorized signatories for district fiscal operations and update the building corporation membership; the voiding of stale checks is an internal-control step staff said will occur on an annual schedule.
