Roth said buying an available demo vehicle avoids supply delays and would expand the city's hybrid proportion of patrol units; staff estimated savings compared with replacement from state bid pricing. Council moved, seconded and approved the purchase by roll call.
Staff said vehicle warranties, trade-in proceeds from another vehicle, and the grant reduce the net cost; the department expects the purchase to remain within previously approved budget authority and to reduce fuel and operating costs over time.
