River Ridge CDD terminates Laz’s Lawn Service, engages GulfScapes amid performance concerns

The River Ridge board on Nov. 19 authorized termination of the District’s landscape service agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service, Inc., citing performance issues, and approved engaging GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services effective immediately. Mrs. Adams led the discussion and said GulfScapes’ $58,500 proposal exceeds the budgeted $45,000 by about $13,000.
Board members discussed options to offset the higher cost, including using unassigned funds and applying withheld payments from Laz’s Lawn Service toward plant replacement costs. On motion by Mr. Blumenthal, seconded by Mr. Schultz, the board unanimously approved terminating Laz’s Lawn Service and engaging GulfScapes.
Staff will manage contract termination logistics and implement the new maintenance agreement and any required adjustments to the five‑year plan or reserve funding.
