Residents press River Ridge CDD to address Pinehurst drainage and retention-pond flooding

Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District on July 23 that, a week after a pipe was plugged, water continues to overflow at the Pinehurst triangle monument and a retention pond between River 8 and River 9 appears non-functional, with water nearly 1 foot above the drain. Ms. Perkins said she would provide photographs and video to district staff to document the flooding.
District Engineer John Baker told the board that plugging the inlet removed a previous backflow path but left water with no clear outlet, creating what he described as “a very tiny pond in a pipe.” He said resolving the issue will likely require additional study and emphasized the value of photographs or video to help staff and engineers diagnose the problem.
A board member asked whether there is video showing water bubbling out of the drain; Ms. Perkins said she has photographs and will obtain video footage and deliver it to staff. Mr. Adams (District Manager) explained that the pipes in question run between two houses, across the street, across the golf course and into a ditch that ultimately flows to the Estero River.
The board directed staff to collect photographic/video evidence and directed the District Engineer to view the drainage firsthand. No formal motion or funding decision was recorded during public comment; the topic was placed on the record for further study and follow-up at a future meeting.
