Police Chief Pete Vergos and Administrator Nick Leonard presented the Police Department budget, noting modest changes. Trustees asked about increases to the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) contribution and overtime; staff said that filling vacancies should help reduce overtime in 2025. Kris Ruch explained small increases in the village portion of WRS that affect the budget.
Chief Flaherty presented the fire budget, which showed minimal change, and the EMS proposal, which included adding two full‑time positions to allow three personnel on each shift and to reduce overtime and reliance on part‑time staff. No final personnel decisions were made at the meeting.
The board also read Ordinance‑2024‑07, which revises Section 21.05(2)(c) on required open space; the reading was recorded as a first reading and there was no recorded final vote on adoption.
Procedural business: the board approved the consent agenda (minutes of Aug. 5 and invoices) on a motion by Trustee Mike Will with a second from Trustee Ann Price; the board vote was four ayes with Trustee Price recorded as abstaining, and the motion carried. Trustee Ann Price moved to adjourn at 7:49 p.m.; Trustee Chuck Hornung seconded and the board adjourned by a 5‑0 vote.
