Silverstar outlines phased fiber rollout for Star Valley Ranch, says grants cover build and some customers are live

Eric Heap, a Silverstar representative, said crews completed much of the northern section this year; areas colored purple on the map have both fiber and conduit and some customers are already being turned on. Blue and green areas currently have conduit only; Silverstar plans to push fiber through those conduits in the spring. "For the 2026 installation, we will work everything south of Vista Drive," Heap said, describing the southern deployment as four sections labeled A, B, C and D. Heap said sections A and B will be activated in 2026 and sections C and D in 2027.
Heap acknowledged the company had run long on its original timetable because it "got short on resources," but said Silverstar will coordinate closely with the town so crews avoid conflict with planned road work and will contact residents by email, door hanger or door knock before making service drops to individual homes. He added there should be no further road reconstruction in areas that already have conduit; some minimal bore work under roads may be required in isolated locations.
Heap also addressed costs and funding: he said grant money funds the build and that the $350 figure discussed in the meeting referred to an engineering design fee rather than the network build cost. Heap said Silverstar would leave paper maps at town hall and provide digital copies for the town website and for the town's master plan update.
Justin, a Silverstar representative who presented with Heap, noted the company will also provide service to a local long-term care facility the company described in the meeting as "the old folk’s home," which the presenters said had poor copper-based service. Because the transcript uses that phrasing, the facility name was not specified during the update.
Mayor Rok and council members asked technical and scheduling questions; Councilman Ellis pressed for clarification about bore locations in the north and for confirmation that map copies would be available. Residents asked when to contact Silverstar; Heap emphasized customers should wait for Silverstar outreach to ensure organized installations.
Next steps: Silverstar will provide digital maps to the town, continue customer outreach in purple areas already being activated, and proceed with the phased south-of-Vista Drive construction in 2026 and 2027.
