Pella Community Services Board approves minutes, learns Community Center will close and offices will move to Bos Landen Conference Center

The Pella Community Services Board on May 15, 2026 approved its February 20 minutes and heard updates about a pending facility closure and an office relocation.
Community Services Director Spencer Winzenried called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. and announced that the Community Center will close at the end of May. He said the Community Services offices will move to the Bos Landen Conference Center within the next couple of weeks and that future board meetings will be held at the conference center at 2411 Bos Landen Drive.
The board formally approved the minutes of the Feb. 20, 2026 meeting by a recorded motion moved by Glenn Steimling and seconded by Amanda Schwerdtfeger; the motion carried 5-0. Winzenried also welcomed Jacob Keller to his first meeting as the newest board member.
Winzenried provided a brief update on the Pella Parks & Recreation Plan (referred to in the minutes as the Comp Plan Update); the minutes do not include specifics of proposals or changes discussed. The minutes do not record any vote or formal action related to the parks and recreation plan.
The board set its next meeting for Friday, June 19, 2026, at noon. Members will meet at the Pella Sports Complex for a tour of the Recreation Center building. The meeting was adjourned following a motion by Steimling, seconded by Schwerdtfeger; the adjournment motion carried 5-0. The minutes were submitted by Dyan Parker on May 15, 2026.
