Select Board authorizes removal of unsafe salt shed, discusses DPW schedule and advisory committee RFP

During the June 30 Select Board meeting, the board approved several operational items related to public works and planning.
Cleary reported that Ben Crosby requested authorization to remove the old one-bay salt shed at the corner of Mason Road and Weston Hill Road because it is a safety hazard. Selectman Mike Fimbel moved to authorize the DPW to tear down the salt shed; Chairman John Quinlan seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Crosby also asked that the highway crew be allowed Thursday as a floating holiday for July 4 because forecasts called for over 100 degrees; Crosby planned to be in during morning hours. Quinlan and Fimbel agreed the timing was appropriate and the board allowed the day off without affecting critical projects.
Quinlan gave an update that the Board of Selectmen Advisory Committee is preparing an RFP targeted for release July 18 and is planning an open house at the building around July 25; David Sturm will attend upcoming meetings to provide zoning expertise. The board tabled approval of the June 22 minutes. Cleary presented a letter from the Fire Chief about street-numbering issues and Quinlan said the Select Board will likely appoint a committee to address numbering.
