North Fond du Lac trustees approve three zoning ordinance amendments, review 2024 budgets

At its Oct. 2, 2023 meeting, the Village of North Fond du Lac Board of Trustees approved three zoning-related ordinances after second readings and reviewed key portions of the proposed 2024 budgets and the 2024–2028 capital plan.
The board approved Ordinance O-2023-04, an amendment to required open space standards; Ordinance O-2023-05, an amendment related to driveways; and Ordinance O-2023-06, an amendment to yard regulations. The measures passed on roll-call votes following second readings. John Duffy moved to approve O-2023-04 with Ann Price seconding; the ordinance passed 3–1. Ann Price moved to approve O-2023-05 with Duffy seconding; it passed unanimously. Mike Will moved to approve O-2023-06 with Duffy seconding; it passed unanimously.
Administrator Nick Leonard and department heads reviewed the weekly staff report and presented the General Government, TIF, Debt Service and Outdoor Recreation portions of the 2024 operating budget. During the capital budget discussion, Fire/EMS Chief Jake Flaherty outlined needs for fire apparatus and was asked to prepare additional information for trustees to consider at a later meeting.
Police Chief Darren Pautsch reported that a speed limit sign was recently broken and estimated replacement at about $5,000. Trustees asked Administrator Leonard to prepare a resolution to authorize funding for consideration at the next board meeting.
The board recognized Brian Abitz for 25 years of service and received an update from Lisa McArthur of Envision Greater Fond du Lac on that group's recent work and current funding situation. The board recessed to a public hearing on the two zoning ordinances at 6:20 p.m.; President Mike Streetar called for public comment three times and no members of the public spoke.
On routine business, the board approved the consent agenda including an operator license for Dawn Kabitzke of RStore, motioned by Mike Will and seconded by Ann Price. The meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
