Senior-class volunteers to repaint gazebo and help with park cleanup, council agrees

Mr. Staab, who does community engagement with the senior class at Santa Fe Trail High School, proposed a set of volunteer projects for students at the city park and ball diamonds, including staining/painting the gazebo white, removing flowers and weeds from the flower bed, mulching, and cosmetic painting of park structures.
Council discussed maintenance needs (some boards and the gazebo roof require replacement, which the students could not undertake) and granted consensus to allow Mr. Staab and his students to stain/paint the gazebo and remove flowers and add mulch at the city park. Council noted that any work affecting the ball diamonds will require approval from the Recreation department.
Council also clarified that paddle boarding is allowed on Strowbridge Reservoir as a recreation lake but reminded Mr. Staab of a posted no-wake section.
