During the public-comment portion of the Village of Denton Board meeting on May 4, several residents urged volunteer engagement and raised facilities concerns.
Gail Braunsroth asked for volunteers to help run Denton Daze, scheduled for June 20. Missy Cherry encouraged community members to help with trash cleanup and the removal of volunteer trees. Julie Stovall volunteered to serve on the playground committee and said she had not yet been contacted about meetings.
Resident Bill Edwards thanked the board for its service but urged attention to the community center’s exterior, citing a mudhole at the entrance, a remaining tree stump and volunteer trees growing in landscaping. Board member Amanda Fangmeier said she had been helping by pulling weeds; Doug Rosekrans asked Edwards to submit a written list of concerns so the board could follow up.
Maintenance staff reported delays in opening the outdoor bathroom while parts are awaited and noted leaks at the treatment plant; Plant Nebraska is scheduled to do a planting on Tuesday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m., and volunteers were asked to participate.
The board did not record formal action on the public comments beyond requesting follow-up and contact with the playground committee volunteer.
