Denton trustees approve local projects, payment authorization and surplus hay sale

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees on March 2 approved several routine and local project items during a meeting that also included adoption of an updated village code and tabling of utility-rate proposals.
The board accepted a bid from contractor Blackledge to resurface the community warning track at a cost of $23,250; Blackledge indicated the surfacing mix would be provided by Odeys and said it would reach out to the Denton Community Athletic Club (DCAC) about a possible contribution. Trustees Doug Rosekrans and Amanda Fangmeier moved and seconded the purchase; the motion carried.
Trustees also approved Resolution 2026-3, which authorizes the Municipal Clerk/Treasurer to make certain recurring payroll and monthly payments (payroll, utilities, insurance, late-penalty avoidance and filing fees) prior to formal board approval when necessary to meet legal or timing requirements. The resolution cites the Fair Labor Standards Act and specific Nebraska statutes in its text and was approved by motion.
The board accepted the highest silent bid for eleven surplus hay bales: Trustee Amanda Fangmeier moved and Trustee Doug Rosekrans seconded to approve Resolution 2026-4 awarding the bales to Jake Baker for $31. The chair and clerk were authorized to complete the sale.
The board reviewed and approved an ingress/egress, water-main and sewer-easement for property at 9505 W Denton after the Village Attorney reviewed the document; trustees then voted to approve the related water and sewer connections and lagoon agreement and authorized the chair to sign. Trustees Ryan Osborn and Trent Wheatley moved and seconded the approval. The minutes note a prior contingent approval at an earlier meeting and that the Village Attorney completed the subsequent review (the transcript includes a date that appears inconsistent; the clerk or village attorney can provide the formal history).
Trustees also approved a request for an audit waiver for fiscal year 2024–25 and authorized claims and transfers: Claims List A for $15,263.80, Claims List B for $5,199.60, February payroll of $9,452.09, and a Keno Fund disbursement of $10,750. The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
