Denton schedules May 21 special meeting after contractor paint failure; APMS submits pavement and striping bids

Village maintenance reported that recently applied blue pavement paint did not adhere properly and that reapplication is planned for affected areas. Board members and staff said the existing striping may have been too worn to allow proper adhesion.
A contractor bid from APMS for pavement work was presented: $8,415 to remove and replace decayed pavement (including milling and replacement). Separate cost estimates included $14,246 to restripe the roadway in its current configuration and $1,877 to stripe the parking lots at the community center and post office. The board did not approve those bids at the May 4 meeting and scheduled a special meeting on May 21 for additional discussion.
Staff also reported general maintenance items including leaks at the treatment plant and a delay in opening the outdoor bathroom while parts are awaited. Plant Nebraska is scheduled to do a planting on Tuesday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m., and volunteers were requested to assist.
No formal contract award for the APMS pavement or striping work was recorded in the minutes; further board action is pending the May 21 special meeting.
