Denton trustees approve Keno-funded donations to five local nonprofits

The board approved the following awards: Denton Dollars for Scholars, $2,500; DCAC, $2,500; Sunnyside Cemetery, $1,830; Denton Community Historical Society, $4,000; Spring Creek Prairie, $1,200. Applicants had requested a combined $25,530; the board funded a subset of that total.
Representatives from Dollars for Scholars and the Denton Historical Society spoke to the board about their projects and the uses for the requested funds. The grants will be funded from the village’s Keno checking account, which the clerk reported held $249,471.19 on the meeting report.
The board’s action was recorded during the regular meeting. Details about reporting requirements to the Nebraska Charitable Gaming Commission were reviewed as part of the 2024–25 Keno Annual Report that the board also reviewed during the meeting.
