The Village of Denton Board of Trustees adopted a resolution on Jan. 5 creating formal rules for public participation, a written request form for future agenda items and a deadline for board member agenda submissions.
The board voted to adopt Resolution No. 1-1-26 after Trustee Ryan Osborn moved for approval and Trustee Amanda Fangmeier seconded. Chair Joe Hobelman presided over the meeting at the Denton Community Center.
The resolution, read by title at the meeting, directs that conduct regulations be posted at meetings and establishes a written form for members of the public to request placement of items on the agenda. It clarifies that submitting a request does not create an absolute right to place the topic on the agenda and that the requested language may be revised to describe the topic on the agenda. The resolution also directs trustees to submit agenda requests to the clerk or chair at least three business days before a regular meeting except for emergency or special items.
Trustees did not identify changes to the resolution at the meeting; it was adopted as presented. The resolution takes effect upon execution.
The board handled the procedural item as part of its Jan. 5 regular meeting; the body certified the minutes and adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
