Bonner Springs council adopts updated floodplain management regulations

Bonner Springs — The City Council unanimously adopted an updated floodplain management ordinance after staff said the revisions were reviewed and approved by the regional Community Rating System coordinator, FEMA and the Kansas Department of Water Resources.
Mark Lee, community development director, said the city initiated broad language and height changes to align with current state and federal requirements and that the updated regulations were submitted to and accepted by the approving entities. The ordinance repeals Ordinance No. 2402, adopted July 13, 2015.
Council members had no substantive questions and moved directly to a voice and roll‑call vote. The motion to adopt the 2025 edition of the floodplain management regulations passed on a unanimous vote.
