Centura Public Schools committee reviews policies, excuses two members and approves agenda

The Centura Public Schools Board of Education’s Committee of the Whole convened at 5:00 p.m. Monday in the boardroom at Centura High School in Cairo, Neb., approving routine motions and reviewing a set of policies.
Board member Teresa Grabowski moved to excuse Mark Johnson and Chelsea Schweitzer from the meeting; Board member Brooke Schmitt seconded. The motion carried with Sandra Davis, Teresa Grabowski, Todd Nitsch and Brooke Schmitt recorded as voting yea; Mark Johnson and Chelsea Schweitzer were recorded absent.
Shortly afterward, Board member Brooke Schmitt moved to approve the agenda as presented; Board member Todd Nitsch seconded. The attendees approved the agenda by the same recorded vote (Yea: 4, Absent: 2).
Under its information items, the committee completed a review of Policies 4022 through 4064. The packet review included the district’s Therapy Animal Request form, which was discussed as part of that policy sweep. According to the minutes, Dr. Heneger said Policy 4050 will be brought back for a future review after staff obtains additional information.
No members of the public signed in to address the board during the public-comment portion of the meeting.
Board member Brooke Schmitt moved to adjourn at 5:57 p.m.; Board member Todd Nitsch seconded and the motion passed with the same attendance record. The committee meeting was then closed.
Actions recorded during the meeting were limited to routine procedural approvals and the policy review; no binding policy changes or funding decisions were made.
