Stanton board calls special election on general obligation bonds and approves property sales, calendar and bills

The Stanton Community Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Monday night to call a special election on a proposition to issue general obligation bonds for Stanton County School District 0003.
At the Feb. 9 meeting in the high/middle school library, Board Member David Morfeld moved to adopt the resolution calling for the special election; Amanda Tomasek seconded the motion. The board recorded an "all members present voted for" result (AMPVF-MC).
The board also accepted two sealed bids from Bob Kuehn for district-owned properties: $501 for 706 6th Street and $1,501 for 702 6th Street. Morfeld moved and Tomasek seconded that motion, which carried with all members present voting in favor.
In other business, the board approved the second reading of policies #3131 and #3132; adopted the 2026–2027 school calendar; and renewed the board's membership with the Nebraska Association of School Boards for 2026–27. Those motions were carried unanimously with the listed board members voting yes.
The board approved payment of District #3 bills presented at the meeting and accepted the activity account reports, treasurer's report, account summary and revenue report. The minutes attach a detailed vendor list and payroll totals, including vendor payments such as ESU #8 for $35,850.10 and Pinkelman Truck & Trailer for $13,978.88, and reported Employer Amount $130,896.46, Employee Amount $357,462.20, for a combined total shown of $634,395.96.
The board set its next regular meeting for March 16, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the High/Middle School Library. The meeting was adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
