Principals report on training and safety; board accepts resignation, hires custodian and recognizes student athletes

During the Nov. 10 board meeting Elementary Principal Sarah Remm reported on LETRS training, the HAL program, the district’s continuous improvement plan, a safety audit and upcoming workshops and trainings.
Secondary Principal Micah Buller reported on planned staff computer replacements, noted a classified staff resignation, presented a proposed custodian contract, previewed the staff Christmas gathering, and recognized student state qualifiers and playoff qualifiers in athletics as winter activities begin and Veterans Day activities concluded.
The board accepted the resignation of Fernando Deguma on a motion by David Morfeld, seconded by Shad Pohlman; the motion carried with all members present voting for it. On a motion by David Morfeld, seconded by Amanda Tomasek, the board approved a contract between Annabelle Frasch and the district for the custodian position for the 2025–2026 school year; that motion also carried unanimously.
Separately, the board moved to recognize Azlynn Johnson for placing ninth at Girls State Cross Country and five boys (Mason McKie, Alton Wurdinger, Chase Schwartz, Noah Schmidt and Will Bryant) for qualifying for Boys State Cross Country, and to recognize their coach David Ernesti. The board also recognized a roster of football players who qualified for the State Football Playoffs and their coaches David Stoddard, Matthew Peter, Greg Wegner and Adam Dover.
The minutes do not record extended debate on personnel items; motions are recorded as carried. The next regular meeting will be Dec. 8, 2025.
