Dodge County appoints two residents to advisory boards, directs attorney to review church road request

The Dodge County Board of Commissioners at its July 7 meeting appointed two residents to advisory boards and handled routine county business.
Commissioner Jeffrey Jones nominated Jaye H. Brown for the Library Board; with no other nominations, the board closed nominations and appointed Brown by acclamation. Commissioner Brian Watkins nominated Sara Goolsby to the HOGARC Aging Advisory Committee; nominations were closed and Goolsby was appointed by acclamation.
The board also approved accounts payable totaling $274,841.40 following a motion by Commissioner Flanagan and a second from Commissioner Watkins. Chairman Dan McCranie asked the county attorney to examine the county-owned bed of Old Gresston Baptist Church Road after a church request to acquire the property, directing legal review of title and transfer options.
Manager Conner Bearden provided additional operational updates: EMS held graduations for EMR, EMT, paramedic and CNA classes on June 25; the county’s Legislative Conference on July 18 had good representation; the 2025 LRA bid opening was scheduled; the Road Committee selected roads for the 2026 LMIG allotment of $1,098,334.18; the county is searching for roll-off trucks; and the county has been awarded more than $4 million in grant and loan funds for a Road Improvement Program, with contracts expected in about four weeks.
