Board approves laptop purchase, RFPs and multiple handbooks after budget vote

Laptops and RFPs: The board approved using NCPA contract 01‑169 to purchase staff laptops for Monroe, Washington and Harrison elementaries at a quoted price of $152,460.96. Trustees also approved going out for an RFP for GRHS CTE design‑build services and authorized RFPs to replace a technology box truck with a full‑size SUV (not to exceed $70,000) and to procure a dump trailer (Unit 426).
Facilities and maintenance: Maintenance reported summer projects including new boiler burners at Jackson (an efficiency increase of about 20%), valve and gasket replacements, HVAC control upgrades and work in the FFA classroom/FFA site. Administration also provided a 14‑month strategic plan for CTE shop renovations and said engineers and contractors will be engaged this fall.
Handbooks and dates: Trustees approved the GRHS handbook for 2026–27, the district employee handbook, activities/coaches handbooks (including an eligibility-timing change to require grade corrections by Wednesday rather than Thursday), the nutrition services handbook and the transportation handbook (a substantial rewrite reflecting new technology and expectations). The board also approved graduation dates for GRHS and Expedition Academy on Memorial Day weekend Saturdays.
Votes and next steps: All procurement and handbook items were approved by voice vote. Administration will proceed with procurement steps and bring design‑build bid materials back to the board as planning for CTE renovations continues.
