Manager reports on operator training options and WPA Road/FEMA funding requirements

County Manager Conner Bearden told the Road Committee the county is exploring heavy equipment operator training with Oconee Fall Line Technical College and said the Fitzgerald Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has a simulator program that may meet the county’s needs; he said he is awaiting further information.
Bearden also updated the committee on repairs to WPA Road and outlined FEMA’s requirements the county must meet to obtain FEMA funding for that work. No formal action or vote was taken on either item during the meeting.
Both items were presented as information for the committee and as tasks for staff to follow up on before returning to the commissioners with recommendations or required documentation.
