The Committee of the Whole of the Centura Public Schools Board of Education met Monday, April 13, 2026, at Centura High School in Cairo, Neb. Board members excused two trustees who were not in attendance, appointed Mark Johnson as chair pro tem, approved the meeting agenda and completed a review of district policies 5001–5025 before adjourning at 5:45 p.m.
Mark Johnson moved to excuse Sandra Davis and Teresa Grabowski from the Committee of the Whole meeting; Todd Nitsch seconded the motion. The motion carried with Johnson, Nitsch, Brooke Schmitt and Chelsea Schweitzer recorded as voting yea and Davis and Grabowski recorded as absent. Because President Davis and Vice President Grabowski were absent, Chelsea Schweitzer moved and Todd Nitsch seconded a motion to appoint Mark Johnson as chair pro tem; that motion also passed with the same recorded votes.
Board member Brooke Schmitt moved to approve the agenda as presented; Chelsea Schweitzer seconded and the motion passed. Under Centura Public Schools Policy No. 2009, the board opened the floor for public comment; no patrons signed in to address the board.
During the business portion of the meeting the board reviewed policies numbered 5001 through 5025. The record states that no changes were recommended to any of the policies under review.
A motion by Todd Nitsch, seconded by Brooke Schmitt, to adjourn the meeting at 5:45 p.m. passed. The Committee of the Whole completed the scheduled review and took the procedural steps needed to maintain continuity of governance; no substantive policy changes or public input were recorded at this session.
