Marquette County commissioners approve equipment purchases, facility repairs, airport funding application and appointments

The Marquette County Board of Commissioners on July 7 approved multiple contracts, purchases and appointments intended to maintain county infrastructure and services.
Key actions included authorization to purchase a Project Lifesaver system (not to exceed $16,696) to replace the county’s aging Life Tracker equipment; award of the Marquette County Jail restoration sealant project to Keweenaw Home Repairs for $27,786 to reduce water infiltration at the secure portion of the jail; acceptance of an M-B Companies estimate to replace a hydraulic pump on an Oshkosh airport snow blower not to exceed $27,411.12; and direction to staff to submit an initial State grant application for the Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport, consistent with a previously allocated $3 million funding opportunity.
The board also accepted two resignations (Christopher Germain from the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and Matthew Barnhart from Marq-Tran Authority) and appointed Joe Minelli of Forsyth Township to a partial alternate term on the Marquette County Solid Waste Authority (term expiring July 1, 2028).
