Marquette County planners held a public hearing July 7 to present the closeout report for the Michigan Community Development Block Grant (MSF-202310535-CDB), known locally as the CHILL (CDBG Housing Improving Local Livability) program. Amy Stephens, Marquette County planner, was present to answer questions about the program and its outcomes.
The county said the grant supported repairs on 14 homes across Marquette County, including roof replacements and radon mitigation system installations; all activities were reported to have benefited low- to moderate-income households. The public hearing notice invited written comments through July 7, 2026 (addressed to Amy Stephens, 234 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855 or astephens@mqtco.org).
No members of the public offered comment at the hearing. After the presentation and opportunity for comment, Comm. Benzie moved to close the public hearing; Comm. Numinen seconded, and the motion was adopted in a roll-call vote (Ayes: Benzie, Nordeen, Alholm, Numinen, Chairperson Derocha; Nays: none; Absent: Comm. LaLonde).
The hearing formally closes the county’s public process on the CHILL grant closeout. The county minutes record the grant number and the general scope of improvements; the closeout documentation and contact information for follow-up are available through the county planner’s office.
