Joan presented the Commission on Aging's Wallace Center renovation financial report and explained the project budget and reimbursement plan.
She said the total architecture-and-engineering budget for the Wallace Center renovation was $350,000, comprised of a Connecticut State Department of Aging and Disabilities ARPA allocation, a separate Town ARPA allocation of $146,035 and private funds from the Friends totaling the remainder. Joan told the committee the Friends'first reimbursement under this appropriation, $38,000, was received on 06/30/2026 and that the Friends will reimburse the town on a quarterly basis for project payments.
Joan said the town's ARPA allotment identified for the project had been fully spent and that invoice detail is in the meeting packet. She noted that the budget resolution requires an annual report on funds received from Friends.
Committee members asked whether reimbursements would continue quarterly and whether the committee could hold reimbursements and appropriate them annually; Joan and the chair agreed that holding reimbursements for an annual appropriation could be done and that payment timing derived from how Friends chose to remit funds. The committee accepted the Wallace Center report by voice vote.
The report clarifies funding sources and the reimbursement schedule the Friends will follow, but Joan cautioned the figures are preliminary and could change as final accounting is completed.
