Council tables proposal to limit parking to one side on three neighborhood streets

Staff described the standard practice: new streets are typically limited to parking on one side to ensure two travel lanes and emergency access. Staff also said they notify property owners and tenants and that the city received both letters in favor and letters opposed for the specific streets.
During public comment earlier, a resident of Mary Lane (Patrick Nourigena) said he opposed one-side restrictions, citing congestion, blind-spot collisions and snow-removal concerns. Councilmembers discussed neighborhood input: some favored additional review and outreach, and one member requested more time to speak with neighbors.
Councilmember Paul moved to table the item until the next meeting to allow further neighborhood outreach; the motion was seconded and carried on a 5–0 roll call. Staff said the item could be returned as individual street votes if council prefers and reiterated that notices are sent to owners and tenants when the city considers parking changes.
