Kenosha school board approves fees, building renaming and calendar in special meeting

On a separate motion, the board accepted the citizen advisory committee's recommendation to rename the Chavez Learning Station as the Irene Santos Learning Station and to designate the school's community room as the Florence Perry Heidi Community Room. The committee had considered 20 name suggestions and used a rubric to select the top recommendations.
The board approved the proposed 2027–28 instructional calendar, presented as a model following the revised 2026–27 calendar that shortened the instructional year by one week.
The board also accepted a $5,000 donation from Lucy and Norm Arndt to Bradford High School in recognition of coach John Arndt to support the boys' soccer program; administration recommended establishing the appropriate accounts and amending the budget per Wisconsin statute 65.95(1)(a).
