Ft. Zumwalt board adopts refreshed Continuous School Improvement Plan through 2029

The Ft. Zumwalt R-II Board of Education approved a revised Continuous School Improvement Plan that district leaders said will guide work through 2029 under three headings: leadership, academics and culture.
Trustee (S3) and action-team leaders presented the plan and its ‘‘wildly important goal’’: raising the number of academic-status indicators at target from five out of eight to eight out of eight. Presenters said the academics priorities include continuing professional learning communities and implementing a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) across schools, with a focus on better serving students with special education needs. The culture team outlined a target to increase sense of belonging by 10% by June 30, 2029, based on baseline survey work, and emphasized mental-health and behavioral supports.
Leadership presenters (S16, S17) said the district will implement leadership lessons for students, expand student leadership opportunities and study needs-based staffing models to allocate staff where they can most affect student growth. Trustees commended the plan as thorough and practical; the board approved the CSIP by voice vote.
The presentation included measurable lead measures and noted the team used internal data (MAP, EOC, Panorama surveys) to set priorities. Trustees asked few questions and expressed support; administration said printed, detailed volumes will be provided to trustees.
